My most frequently asked questions are answered below.
If you have an unfrequently asked question (no such thing as a stupid question), please feel free to send me an email.
There are several reasons why I only tutor online. Firstly, I have clients all over the world and don’t think that geographical limitations should hinder students from receiving support. This also means that there is no interruption to learning, as students can contact me whether they are at home, travelling or on holiday. Tutoring online is also a lot more efficient, as no party needs to commute, and children can comfortably and safely stay at home in their usual environment.
I deliver all the services that I offer, whether that is tutoring, home schooling or consulting. I do not outsource any of my services and work hard to build trusting and long-lasting relationships with the families that I work with so that they have a long-term, educational partner for their family.
As I am not a tutoring agency, it is vital that I get along with my clients and feel like we share the same goals and values regarding education. I therefore offer a free initial 30-minute consultation so that we can meet each other and find out whether we are a good fit. If you are still unsure, you can book an hourly paid one-to-one tutoring session to help your decision. Should you feel that we are not a good fit, no further charges will arise.
Yes, all materials are included in tutoring sessions.
I usually have my camera on during tutoring. My students can keep their camera on or off, whichever they feel most comfortable with.
Online tutoring is the same as in-person tutoring, only the tutor is not sat next to the student. The lessons are held face-to-face (although students do not need to turn on their camera) via a web conferencing platform. You will receive an invite link with our appointment and usually also a link for an online blackboard. This enables students to interact live with the teaching. Online blackboards furthermore allow students to save any notes that are taken during the lesson. Prior to our session I also send a pdf with a lesson summary and tasks, so that students can work “offline” should connection issues arise and can keep a paper copy of their lesson for reference.
Yes, all marking from tutoring sessions are included in the hourly fee. For example, if I ask my student to complete a writing task, I will ask for a copy via email or a scan so that I can mark it and provide detailed written feedback.
Parents are always welcome to sit-in on the tutoring session. Most children from the age of five can sit and follow my tutoring sessions without the help of their parents, however this depends on the child and their individual circumstances.
All my homeschool plans include a material pack but due to the bespoke nature of the education pathway plan, situations may arise where additional books or resources may be desirable. However, this is strictly a recommendation, and I do not expect parents to buy a certain set of books. If it works for your family and we are happy with the results, then all is good!
I believe children need to be taught how they can best learn by taking into consideration their own individual learning styles. It is my goal to empower children to become the driving force behind their own educational trajectory showing them how to become independent learners with their parents as support and myself as a guide. This involves fuelling the fire of their own educational passions which all children have (no matter how hidden). Tutoring should then result in a regular event where students can ask questions about certain aspects that they have not quite understood, so that I can iron out any hurdles they have encountered during their learning.
This greatly depends on each family’s individual circumstances. Most of my clients decide to book “The helping hand” for a term, and then decide whether they need more, or less help in the following term.
Yes, you can always change your homeschool plan after the term has ended. Please note this only applies to plans that are paid on a termly basis. Full year plans that have been paid in advance and have received a 5% discount can only be changed after all terms have been completed.
My secondary homeschool plans take into account the preparation for (I)GCSE and A-level exams. Students will then have to sit their exams as a private candidate at an external examination centre. These are available all over the world, oftentimes offered by British Council offices or International schools. You can arrange these yourself by contacting the appropriate examination centre. Please note each centre will charge different fees for this service which are not included in my homeschool plans. I have a set of centres that I work with around the world, if you would like me to organise the exams for you, please get in touch.
Think of me as an honest tour guide in the most touristy city you can think of, only this city is your child’s education. I will help you avoid the tourist traps (unnecessary subscriptions, books, progress stress) and aim to show you the best secret spots of the city (efficient learning, structured freedom, and independent studying). I have been through homeschooling myself and have ten years of experience as a tutor and in educational institutions. I can guide you through the national curriculum (deciding whether you want to follow it or not), different learning methods, and teaching approaches. I then assess your child to record their progress and produce a report, acknowledging what works and what is rather avoided. In essence, I provide everything you need to make sure that your homeschool journey is a success.
No, my consultancy is focused on parents who would like to educate their children at home.

Yes, families that book services for more than one child receive an overall 10% discount.
In addition, homeschool plans that are paid a year in advance (3 terms) receive a further 5% discount.
I am committed to helping students of all socio-economic backgrounds succeed regardless of their financial situations.
As part of my company’s ethos and my own personal motivation I am therefore very excited to offer free tutoring and education consultancy to families or individuals who would otherwise not be able to consult my services.
Appointments are made on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to be added to the wait list, please send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
In addition, during term time I hold free weekly classes, one for each Key Stage. If you would like to join, please subscribe to my newsletter below where you will be informed of the next upcoming class.
I provide all the services myself so I’m afraid the answer is no, sorry!
